Disney Theatrical Productions  and Broadway In Chicago proudly announce that Aladdin, the hit Broadway musical, will launch its North American tour in Chicago.  The 12-week engagement begins performances at Broadway In Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W. Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60601) on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 and plays through Sunday, July 2.  Future engagements and casting information will be announced in the coming months.

Reservations for groups of fifteen (15) or more are now being accepted by calling (312) 977-1710.  Beginning March 2016, Broadway In Chicago subscribers will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the production.  Single ticket on-sale for the general public will be announced at a later date.

Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, Aladdin features music by Tony Award® and eight-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Sister Act), lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (Evita, Aida) and four-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Beguelin, and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon).  Scott Taylor is the Associate Director and John MacInnis is the Associate Choreographer.

“Aladdin will be the fourth new production we’ve launched in Chicago in 16 years. Chicago’s canny audiences, its theatrical infrastructure and its stunning theatres make it a peerless town for creating new productions,” said Thomas Schumacher, President and Producer, Disney Theatrical Productions. “We are thrilled to return with Aladdin.”

Lou Raizin, President of Broadway In Chicago, said, “We are excited Chicago will be the first North American city outside of New York to see Aladdin.”

Single tickets for the Tony® Award-winning smash hit musical, Disney’s NEWSIES, are now on sale! NEWSIES will play Chicago’s Oriental Theatre (24 W Randolph) December 10, 2014 through January 4, 2015.

Tickets to Disney’s NEWSIES range from $35-$110. A select number of premium seats are also available for many performances. Tickets are available now for groups of 10 or more by calling Broadway In Chicago Group Sales at (312) 977-1710. Tickets are available at all Broadway In Chicago Box Offices (24 W. Randolph St., 151 W. Randolph St., 18 W. Monroe St. and 175 E. Chestnut), the Broadway In Chicago Ticket Line at (800) 775-2000, all Ticketmaster retail locations and here on our website.

When it opened on March 29, 2012 NEWSIES was intended for a Broadway run of just 101 performances. The show’s fiercely devoted fans had other ideas, however; they propelled the show to a run of 1005 performances, attendance of more than 1 million and a gross of over $100M.

While on Broadway, NEWSIES set and broke seven Nederlander Theatre house records and became the highest-grossing show from the 2011-12 Broadway season. The show received 23 major theatrical nominations – including eight Tony Award® nods – and won Tony®, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Score and Choreography.

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, NEWSIES is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right

NEWSIES is inspired by the real-life ‘Newsboy Strike of 1899,’ when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers.

The stage version introduces seven brand-new songs by the original team of Menken and Feldman while keeping many of the beloved songs from the film, including ‘Carrying the Banner, ‘Seize the Day,’ ‘King of New York’ and ‘Santa Fe.’

Since the film’s 1992 theatrical release and subsequent DVD release, NEWSIES has grown into a cult phenomenon, and for years had been the single most requested title of all the Disney musical films not yet adapted for the stage. (The film featured a screenplay by Bob Tzudiker & Noni White (Tarzan, 102 Dalmatians).)
