Play BIC-GO at the Summer Concert!

Posted on: August 11th, 2015 by B.I. C. No Comments

Last year we gave you the chance to win tickets by playing Broadway In Chicago Summer Concert BIC-GO and it was so popular we’re doing it again!

Join us in Millennium Park at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion August 17th at 6:15 pm for an evening of music and fun. This year’s Broadway In Chicago FREE Summer Concert in Millennium Park will include selections from: “Gotta Dance,” “42nd Street,” “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder,” “If/Then,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Beautiful – The Carole King Musical,” “Cabaret,” “Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage,” “Newsies,” and “The Lion King.”

Beginning today, you have the opportunity to be entered to win a pair of tickets to one of our upcoming productions of your choice that is featured in the summer concert by playing BIC-GO on social media – just like BINGO! Post your photos on Twitter or Instagram of any of the items on the BIC-GO board using #BICconcert and tag Broadway in Chicago. Once you have a completed row/column/diagonal of 5 in a row, make a post on Twitter or Instagram using #BICGO. You have up until August 24 to finish your BIC-GO card; the more rows you complete, the more you will be entered to win! Don’t forget about that free space – and be creative with your entries as some squares are open to interpretation. You can find the full rules below. Good luck and have fun snapping pictures!

Single tickets for the Tony® Award-winning smash hit musical, Disney’s NEWSIES, are now on sale! NEWSIES will play Chicago’s Oriental Theatre (24 W Randolph) December 10, 2014 through January 4, 2015.

Tickets to Disney’s NEWSIES range from $35-$110. A select number of premium seats are also available for many performances. Tickets are available now for groups of 10 or more by calling Broadway In Chicago Group Sales at (312) 977-1710. Tickets are available at all Broadway In Chicago Box Offices (24 W. Randolph St., 151 W. Randolph St., 18 W. Monroe St. and 175 E. Chestnut), the Broadway In Chicago Ticket Line at (800) 775-2000, all Ticketmaster retail locations and here on our website.

When it opened on March 29, 2012 NEWSIES was intended for a Broadway run of just 101 performances. The show’s fiercely devoted fans had other ideas, however; they propelled the show to a run of 1005 performances, attendance of more than 1 million and a gross of over $100M.

While on Broadway, NEWSIES set and broke seven Nederlander Theatre house records and became the highest-grossing show from the 2011-12 Broadway season. The show received 23 major theatrical nominations – including eight Tony Award® nods – and won Tony®, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Score and Choreography.

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, NEWSIES is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right

NEWSIES is inspired by the real-life ‘Newsboy Strike of 1899,’ when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers.

The stage version introduces seven brand-new songs by the original team of Menken and Feldman while keeping many of the beloved songs from the film, including ‘Carrying the Banner, ‘Seize the Day,’ ‘King of New York’ and ‘Santa Fe.’

Since the film’s 1992 theatrical release and subsequent DVD release, NEWSIES has grown into a cult phenomenon, and for years had been the single most requested title of all the Disney musical films not yet adapted for the stage. (The film featured a screenplay by Bob Tzudiker & Noni White (Tarzan, 102 Dalmatians).)
