TOOTSIE’s Santino Fontana to appear as special guest at Broadway In Chicago’s FREE Summer Concert

Broadway In Chicago is delighted to announce that Tony Award nominee Santino Fontana, star of the upcoming Pre-Broadway World Premiere engagement of the new comedy musical TOOTSIE, will be a special guest joining Janet Davies, ABC 7 Chicago’s entertainment reporter and host of the entertainment and lifestyle program 190 NORTH on ABC 7, in hosting the FREE Broadway In Chicago Summer Concert on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 6:15 p.m. at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park (201 E. Randolph St).  The annual Broadway In Chicago Summer Concert at Millennium Park is presented with the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. This year, there will be preview performances from A BRONX TALE THE MUSICAL; ANASTASIA; THE BOOK OF MORMON; CATS; COME FROM AWAY; DEAR EVAN HANSEN; FALSETTOS; FIDDLER ON THE ROOF; HEARTBREAK HOTEL; HELLO, DOLLY!; MISS SAIGON; and ROALD DAHL’S CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.

Tony Award nominee Santino Fontana, whose previous credits include voicing the villainous ‘Prince Hans’ in Disney’s Academy Award-winning animated feature, Frozen, as well as Universal Studio’s Sisters, starring opposite Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, will star as Michael Dorsey in the world premiere Chicago production of the new comedy musical, TOOTSIE, which will play Broadway In Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W. Randolph) Sept. 11 through Oct. 14, 2018.  Fontana’s credits also include Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, The Importance of Being Earnest, A View From the Bridge, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Billy Elliot, Zorba, and Sunday in the Park with George.

As the summer season kicks off in Millennium Park, some important changes are coming to improve security and the visitor experience at the park. The City of Chicago will implement a security perimeter and bag check for all concerts and events that take place in the park. Outside alcohol will be prohibited at the seven Jay Pritzker Pavilion events with the highest attendance, including the Broadway In Chicago Summer Concert. Additional food and beverage options will be available for purchase at various price points inside the venue. Subject to bag search at the security perimeter, guests will continue to be allowed to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages to all events at Millennium Park.

The annual FREE BROADWAY IN CHICAGO SUMMER CONCERT, sponsored by ABC 7 Chicago and hosted by Janet Davies, ABC 7 Chicago’s entertainment reporter and host of the entertainment and lifestyle program 190 NORTH on ABC 7, will take place on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 6:15 p.m. at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park (201 E Randolph St). The Broadway In Chicago Summer Concert at Millennium Park is presented with the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. This year, there will be preview performances from Disney’s ALADDIN (now playing at the Cadillac Palace Theatre), BEAUTIFUL – THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL, THE COLOR PURPLE, the Pre-Broadway Engagement of ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE, LES MISÉRABLES, LOVE NEVER DIES, MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s SCHOOL OF ROCK, WAITRESS and WICKED.

How long will the summer concert last?
The concert is expected to run approximately 70 minutes.

What time should I arrive to get seating for the concert?
The concert will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m. Seating will begin at 5:15 p.m.

Expect to wait in line before seating begins as we do anticipate a large crowd for this event. Seating in the bowl is first come, first serve. Millennium Park staff is responsible for crowd control and organization of lines/entry.

Can we meet the performers after the show?
Unfortunately there is no arranged meet-and-greet opportunity available for this event.

Is food and drink permitted?
Yes, per Millennium Park’s Frequently Asked Questions: For most public performances in Millennium Park, alcohol is allowed in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the Great Lawn. As long as guests are orderly and respectful of the Park and other guests, they may remain for an hour after the concert ends. Millennium Park is the perfect place for a picnic and a night of music and dining al fresco. However, in order to ensure that events are enjoyable for all attendees and to protect the lawn from wear and tear, please respect the following rules of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion: Tents, oversized umbrellas, oversized blankets or plastic tarps, helium balloons, oversized flags, signs/banners, barbeque grills, open flame candles or staking of any kind are not allowed on the Great Lawn area.

Our partner restaurants have also put together some great “boxed dinner” specials for you to pick up before the concert to bring with you and enjoy! When do tickets go on sale for these shows?
Tickets for Disney’s Aladdin, Motown the Musical, Les Misérables and Escape to Margaritaville are already on sale and can be purchased at BroadwayInChicago.com, by calling 800-775-2000 or visiting any Broadway In Chicago box office.

For the other shows performing, tickets typically go on sale 8-10 weeks before performances begin in Chicago; however, concert attendees will be given a special presale code to begin booking tickets before anyone else for select shows! This year’s Broadway In Chicago FREE Summer Concert in Millennium Park will include selections from Disney’s Aladdin, Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, The Color Purple, Escape to Margaritaville, Les Misérables, Love Never Dies, Motown the Musical, School of Rock The Musical, Waitress and WICKED.

Beginning today, you have the opportunity to be entered to win a pair of tickets to one of our upcoming productions of your choice that is featured in the summer concert by playing BIC-GO on social media – just like BINGO! Post your photos on Twitter or Instagram of any of the items on the BIC-GO board using #BICconcert and tag Broadway in Chicago. Once you have a completed row/column/diagonal of 5 in a row, make a post on Twitter or Instagram using #BICGO. Competition Description

The Broadway In Chicago BIC-GO Bingo Competition (“Competition”) will be conducted exclusively online. One (1) winner will be awarded one (1) pair of tickets (date to be at Broadway In Chicago’s discretion) to see an upcoming Broadway In Chicago production (“Prize”). Competition is being conducted by Broadway In Chicago (“Company”) 17 N State St, Suite 810, Chicago, Illinois 60602.

How to Enter

You may enter the Competition by following the instructions on the Bingo card to share photos on Twitter and/or Instagram. The Bingo card with instructions is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

You may only submit photos you have taken yourself.

Collect pieces of each of the shows performing at the FREE Summer Concert in Millennium Park at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, beginning at 6:15 pm on Monday, August 15, and share them on Twitter or Instagram for the chance to win a pair of tickets!

Beginning today, you have the opportunity to be entered to win a pair of tickets to one of our upcoming productions of your choice that is featured in the summer concert by sharing photos that remind you of the show on social media – just like a scavenger hunt! You can use the suggestions that we’ve offered below, or come up with your own inspiration (a Playbill, a ticket stub, etc.) Post your photos publicly on Twitter or Instagram of 4 items from different shows using #BICconcert and tag Broadway in Chicago so we can record your entry.
