Chicago’s Tony Award Nominees!

Broadway In Chicago is thrilled about the Chicago representation in this year’s Tony Award nominations!

“The Visit,” which is nominated for Best Musical, had its world premiere at the Goodman Theatre from September 21 – October 28, 2001.

Another musical nominated is “An American in Paris,” which is produced by Chicago’s Stuart Oken and directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, who has worked with numerous productions at Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet.

 

Ayad Akhtar’s “Disgraced,” which is nominated for Best Play, first premiered at Chicago’s American Theater Company January 27 – March 11, 2012.

 

We’re very happy to see that “The Last Ship,” which premiered in Chicago from June 10 – July 13, 2014, received two nominations: Best Original Score by Sting and Best Orchestrations by Rob Mathes.

 

“This Is Our Youth,” is nominated for Best Revival of a Play. This particular production originated at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre June 10 – July 27, 2014.nominations; K. Todd Freeman for Best Featured Actor in a Play and Julie White for Best Featured Actress in a Play.

Annaleigh Ashford who was recently in Chicago for her one night concert of “Annaleigh Ashford: Lost in the Stars,” is nominated for Best Featured Actress in a Play in the revival of You Can’t Take It With You.

 

“This is Our Youth” and “Fish in the Dark” director – Anna D. Shapiro

 

 “Disgraced” director – Kimberly Senior

 

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” actor Ian Barford
